2007 Winter Campaign

During winter 2007 we ran an advertising campaign direct into Adelaide. Six large adverts were placed in The Advertiser over two weeks during late July early August. We also ran a series of radio adverts on 5AA that referred consumers to The Advertiser. As a result, the campaign generated 26 (3 night) bookings into Victor Harbor. There was a fantastic response considering the ads appeared during the middle of winter, a seasonally low period.

The tourism committee is currently reviewing the campaign and discussing future initiatives based around increasing visitation during the winter and shoulder periods. Consideration is also being given as to how we increase the number of nights that existing visitors are spending in Victor Harbor.

Email Marketing

We have booked the rear page of the 2008 Fleurieu Peninsula Visitor Guide. The large advert will point consumers towards a competition that we are running over the next 12 months. The competition is aimed at collecting email addresses from consumers wishing to receive our new e-newsletter.

The e-newsletter will point consumers to upcoming events & festivals, great deals and specials and new experiences that can be had in Victor Harbor. We are also collecting email addresses through our website and via visitors completing a simple form at the Visitor Information Centre. A new winner will be drawn every three months.

Monthly Media Releases

We have commenced distributing monthly tourism based media releases. We will be on the look out for story ideas and especially for 'the story' behind the story. The stories we prepare will have a link back to the tourism appeal of Victor Harbor.

The releases will not necessarily be about Council, but about interesting characters, novel things that are happening or quirky stories. We expect positive media coverage on Victor Harbor as a part of this initiative.

Over the last two months we have been building a new fresh tourism website for Victor Harbor. The new website will complement the Victor Harbor Visitor Guide released a few months ago as well the horse tram business cards & brochure, the look of the media releases plus other promotional material. The site will be easy to navigate for consumers and will present relevant up to date information. Upcoming events will feature heavily on the homepage along with great emotive images fazing across the screen. The new site will be more interactive with panoramic images of key sites around Victor Harbor. A launch date to be advised.

We offer a great opportunity for local tourism businesses to further promote themselves through micro sites on our website. These microsites include 2 images plus 250 words of text about your business including all your contact information. Please contact Janine Carroll at the Visitor Information Centre (8551 0771) for further details and associated fees.
